POSTURE

Private Pilates for Posture Near Ann Arbor

Hours at a desk, in the car or on a phone add up. Posture isn’t something you fix by being told to sit up straight. It shows up in how strong, mobile and aware you are, and that’s what private work at True Form in Saline builds.

What Pilates can and cannot promise about posture

Plenty of places promise that Pilates will “fix your posture.” True Form won’t. Bodies differ, habits are stubborn, and what you do between sessions matters, however often you come.

What Carly has observed is more modest. As clients regain mobility and build strength, they may become more aware of their posture and of how they stand, sit and move, in daily life and in other workouts.

Strength, mobility and control in Pilates sessions

  • Whole-body strength. Not just the core. The classical system trains the body as a connected unit.
  • Mobility. Moving well through the spine, hips and shoulders, within what your body can do today.
  • Control. Slow, precise work where you can feel what’s happening.
  • Feedback. In a private, duet or trio session, Carly sees the shoulder creeping up or the rib cage flaring and tells you, in real time.

She uses the full apparatus, including the Cadillac, ladder barrel and spine correctors, not only the reformer. Each offers different support and feedback for the spine. Read more about neo-classical Pilates.

Who may want to focus on posture and movement

This page may suit you if you spend long stretches at a desk or in the car, or if you’re returning to exercise after work or life got in the way and want to move better in daily life. If that sounds like you and you’re new, starting privately is the simplest way in.

“Carly’s ability to help students connect brain and body awareness is like no other instructor I’ve trained with.”
