AFTER PT

Private Pilates After Physical Therapy

Your physical therapist has recommended you keep moving, ideally with someone who can focus on your needs. That’s the gap private Pilates at True Form, in Saline in the Ann Arbor area, is built for. It doesn’t replace what your PT did.

Returning to exercise after physical therapy

You may be here because a physical therapist recommended you keep moving with someone who can focus on your needs. Maybe formal rehab is finished or winding down, and a busy class where nobody knows your history doesn’t appeal.

True Form is a private, appointment-only studio. Sessions are private, duet or trio, and each one is built around the people in it.

How Pilates sessions are planned after physical therapy

Programming is case-specific. Carly considers:

  • the area of the body that was rehabilitated
  • how severe the original problem was
  • any restrictions you’re still working within
  • what you want to get back to doing

Bring what your PT told you: restrictions, exercises you were given, movements to avoid. With your permission, Carly will contact your physical therapist if she needs clarification. She doesn’t contact anyone without your say-so.

What to expect at your first Pilates session

You’ll fill out a brief health questionnaire before you arrive. In the session, Carly talks through your history, including surgeries and conditions, then uses simple movements to see your strength, mobility and how you respond to cues. From there she builds the workout, and keeps adjusting it.

The full classical apparatus gives her options. Springs can support a movement as well as load it, which matters when you’re rebuilding confidence in a part of your body. Read more about how the apparatus is used.

How Pilates differs from physical therapy

True Form provides Pilates and movement instruction. It isn’t physical therapy, rehabilitation or medical treatment, and it doesn’t set your recovery timeline.

If you can’t perform a suggested movement appropriately, Carly may recommend going back to your PT, or starting with private sessions rather than a duet or trio. That’s a normal part of the process, not a failure.

“She teaches while she instructs, encouraging correct form and an understanding of the mechanics behind each move.”

Private Pilates intro prices

First-time clients can buy one private 55-minute session for $75, three for $195, or both. The three-session option gives Carly time to assess and adjust across visits. Each intro purchase expires one month after purchase and can’t be shared or transferred. See full pricing and studio policies.
