Pilates age requirements and parent consent

  • Minimum age is 15. True Form doesn’t take clients younger than that.
  • Ages 15 to 17 need a parent or guardian to sign the forms and attend the first session.
  • After that, it’s your call. A parent can choose whether to stay for later sessions, and is always welcome.

What happens at a teen’s first Pilates session

Before booking, contact Carly about how to set up your teen’s booking profile and forms. Call or text 734-366-0337, or email carly@trueformpilates.com. Every new client also fills out a brief health questionnaire.

The whole session is 55 minutes. Within it, Carly asks about health history, including any surgeries, conditions or injuries, uses simple movements to see how your teen moves and responds to spoken cues, and builds the rest of the workout from there. You’ll be in the room for this one. Afterward, she shares what she noticed and what future sessions would work on.

Shoes come off at the door. Bare feet or clean grip socks only; ordinary socks aren’t allowed. Comfortable clothes without zippers or snaps.

Meet your teen’s Pilates instructor

Every session is taught by Carly Jakubowski, the owner. She has taught movement for 19 years and Pilates for 13, is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and TRX certified, and is comprehensively trained in Pilates. More on the about page.

The studio is private and appointment-only, so there’s no crowd and no group class. That can help if your teen feels self-conscious in a gym.

Why teens may be interested in Pilates

A teen might be curious about Pilates, want to get stronger, or want something alongside a sport. For active clients of any age, Carly looks for imbalances and trains the body as one unit; see Pilates for athletes. She won’t promise injury prevention, faster recovery or a particular result.

If your teen has had recent surgery, medical clearance is required before booking. If they’re working with a physical therapist, read Pilates after physical therapy.

Private or partner Pilates for teens

A private session gives the most room to learn. If you’re thinking about a shared duet or trio for your teen, ask Carly before booking.

Pilates intro prices for teens

First-time clients can buy one private 55-minute session for $75, three for $195, or both. Each intro purchase expires one month after purchase and can’t be shared or transferred. See full pricing and studio policies, including the 24-hour cancellation rule.
